Butterfly Colors and Counting

Younger generation into to wonderful world of Jerry Palotta!
I am a huge fan of anything Jerry Palotta! His alphabet books are clever, funny, and enormously educational, and so I ventured into his counting books. I look that his alphabet books have a few short sentences for each item or creature introduced, and was hoping for more of that in the counting. Since this is a board book geared towards the very youngest readers, each page included only the color and the number, with no names, but the back listed the names of each butterfly or moth in order, so the parent can add the information for the child when they wish. As always, the pictures are all lovely, real life creatures. Perfect to introduce my two year old to realistic pictures of colors in the real world!

Jerry Palotta always a treat
In our house we collect alphabets. Themed alphabet books on any subject, and Jerry Palotta is by far a favorite author! His work is always well researched, unique, and informative. Each word chosen for the letters of the alphabet is accompanied by a few short and simple sentences to explain what it is. The information is concise, and often includes a little humor, perfect for very young readers and engaging for an adult as well. I would suggest Mr. Palotta to every parent! Read a million books!

Clever, but impossible to clean
We bought these to replace one given to us that was lost, as well as to gift a replacement for someone else. They work well for their intended purpose, great for pickles, olives, or whatever else you want to individually grab out of a tall jar. They do grip well, and rarely drop whatever the item is. Here's my big complaint; you can't clean the inside aside from rinsing. Even soaking in soapy water and rinsing clean eventually doesn't get it clean enough. I have tried rinsing the second it's done being used, and letting sit in soapy water, neither stops a slow build up of grime on the inside of the tube. For a niche use kitchen item that has to touch food, I would rather use a fork that I know I can thoroughly clean when done with.
