Everything the general user is ever likely to need
The days when you could just buy Photoshop and use it like any other piece of software seem to be over. It's a complicated and confusing picture now, with versions called CC and Cs6 and access to the newer versions available only through 'Creative Cloud Membership' or on a very expensive monthly rental basis. The complications have pushed ordinary non-professional users in the direction of the many non-Adobe alternatives, but in reality Adobe has been in this game the longest and their software is the fastest and least glitchy in nearly every department. Elements 12 is a stand-alone version in the old tradition that you simply install and use. If you're familiar with the older classic versions you'll find it very little different, the interface is familiar, it's easy to install and works perfectly on Windows 7 and presumably 8 and 10, neither of which I personally like. Why make life more complicated and expensive than it needs to be?

I would recommend it without hesitation
I bought this to replace a Rode NTG1 shotgun microphone in which the mic plug at the back had receded into the case, making it unusable and almost impossible to dismantle and fix.
The sound quality is difficult to distinguish from that of the Rode, but the output is quite a lot higher and might need to be attenuated in some aplications. It's a lot more directional than the Rode, which I see as a virtue in most situations, and the hiss level is equally low. Mechanically it's steel body is equally robust and it has an on/off switch to save the battery which is something the Rode lacks. Considering how much cheaper it is to buy I would consider it excellent value for money and would recommend it without hesitation.

Many functions that you won't need but ordinary performance very good.
This phone looks good and performs very well. There are a lot of functions provided by the software which most people are never going to need or use, so I am disregarding the rather poorly written instruction booklet that seeks to explain them all. As an ordinary user all you need to do is set the time and date and learn which button to press when it rings and which buttons replay and delete recorded messages. The radio range is very good (to the end of a large garden from the first floor of a Victorian house) and all speech is loud and clear. You can improvise a small shelf to hold it if you want it wall-mounted and use a few spots of impact adhesive to lock it in position as I have done. I have encountered no problems with the unit.
