Thursday Next Light
With "The Last Dragonslayer" and his subsequent books starring Jennifer Strange, Fforde has assembled a fiction narrative for just about every age and stage of life. Kids (and some savvy adults) get a big bang out of the silliness and familiarity of the Nursery Crime series starring Detective Chief Inspector Jack Spratt; Whovians, Trekkers and other sci-fi-savvy and literate adults can lose themselves in all the good books detailing the time travel (or not) and transfers into and out of the Book World of Thursday Next, to whom we are introduced in "The Eyre Affair: sociologists and dystopians can plot a journey toward one remarkably recognizable future in which the world (or at least Our Hero) may be saved by a girl with a retroussé nose; and now tweens and young adults grown tired of the extremes of being emo can have an adventure - and maybe even a laugh - in a world where all that stands between the Ununited Kingdoms and the fire-belching dragon Maltcassion is a fifteen-year-old orphan driving the Volkswagen she was left and the Rolls Royce she inherits. As with all of Fforde's books, suspension of disbelief is an absolute must and nothing's much heavier than it looks at first blush. Any reader who can handle those caveats should have a blast with Miss Strange.

Acceptable Substitute of Good Quality
Slightly different visually and slightly more comfortable to wear than original. Don't yet have any data on longevity. Pleased with this purchase and will buy again when needed.
