Great everyday outdoorsman pack.
If you need a simple sturdy back pack for casual trail use or camping at a really affordable price, this is it. The side pouches are perfectly sized for 24 oz water bottles, or two cans of beans. It fits all my basic gear with a change of clothes or two. Under the top flap there is a drawstring that allows you to stuff it to the limit if you need a long weekends worth of clothes. The d-rings on top make it easy to attach a sleeping roll, or strap on an additional bag; if you have the South African style small pack like I do, it clips right on to piggyback more storage. The pack fits nice and high, and is comfortable on short hikes under 5 miles or so. The top flap is lined with a waterproof material so it sheds some water if caught in a light rainfall it will not soak for some time. The sides are not lined however, so it should not be considered rainproof. I like the heavy Dupont style vinyl bottom, great if you have to set the pack down on the wet ground. It has a chest strap that helps secure with support if you have to climb some rocks or a tree; of course the chest strap is also useful if you want to attach to a frame. There is a separate pouch inside that can be used to store some flip flops, or a magazine or map etc. The only thing I did not like is the hardware is all plastic, but at least the design is such that if any of the plastic breaks it can be easily repaired with metal d-rings. I expect this pack to last me a couple years of use every weekend, but would not be surprised to find it last longer. You could easily spend a lot more money and still not get a pack this good.

Heavy Duty Baggage
Rothco is my first choice whenever shopping for essential utility bags. All my Jeep and camping gear end up in these bags because they are strong enough to hold up to the heavy loads and hard outdoor use I subject them to. Rothco makes about the best quality canvas you can get. I often carry heavy recovery gear and large tools that would tear and wear through any other cloth. I machine wash my bags when needed, and they are good as new. It is not uncommon to get half a decade or more of continued usage from these bags, making them the best value I can find for my money. Stick with Rothco, you can't go wrong.

Absolutely love it!
This is a really nice quality, and is much more stylish than standard issue. I would have been okay with a regular type wool army blanket, but this has a nicer sturdier weave and a slight blend of color like a vintage wool coat. Looks real sharp, the green is a little cooler color tone, and a little grayed out (less intense) than the picture. It is also nice and warm without being too heavy. Not a below freezing outdoor weight, though I would use it camping early winter with my flannel sheets. Mostly this is my every day and emergency blanket for my car. It folds very flat and thin for it's warm so can easily be packed in small spaces, or slide it under the front seat.
