This is my new favorite lens

The image quality is great. This thing is tiny (less so with the hood, but still small). If you can find it for under $300, it's an absolute steal. The autofocus is loud, this is not for stealth shooting, although you could try manual. I love the colors and background, sharp as I could ask for . If you're shooting with the 50 1.8, this is a great step up. I would put this up against my 50mm 1.7M. I haven't tried the new HD coating version to compare to...

The best crop sensor DSLR and low-light king

This is one of the best crop sensor cameras on the market, if not the best. If you put a quality lens on it, like one of Pentax's Limited primes, picture quality is superb. Like the K-5 before it, low-light situations are no problem, and now auto-focus in the dark has improved. I have literally taken pictures in RAW that looked black before processing and adjusting the exposure brought the whole picture back! The K-5 II is built like a tank and as weatherproof as they come, just make sure the lens is too, if you're going to be in the rain or on the beach. I never shoot JPEG, so I can't really speak on its built in filters and processing, but the files I end up with are pretty large, full of information, and already in the Adobe DNG format for Photoshop and Lightroom. The only issue I can think of is its inability to accept adapters for other makers' lenses due to the distance to the sensor, but I think that's only because I got used to adapting any lens to a mirrorless... Luckily Pentax has some great lenses and third party Tamron and Sigma actually make some pretty impressive glass for them as well. I love this camera.
