Very useful product in the kitchen. Nice to see it is made in the UK.
2 of 2 found this helpful Generally well pleased with the jug; it is as described and it fits the fridge door very well. I use it for keeping my sourdough mixture ready for use and it does that well. The way the lid is designed it can be reversed (front to back) to let the gas from the yeast to escape, as it needs to be able to breathe. Alternatively it can seal the container but I do not know how well it would perform in this position.
However, I wish the lid was a tighter fit as twice I have accidentally allowed the lid to fall into the yeast mixture - probably I have been too clumsy and I will need to take more care in future. But it really is perfect for the job and I am sure it would suit the storage, and pouring (a good pourer) of other drinks etc.
Would certainly recommend it.

Very pleased with the Vonshef soupmaker
Had it less than a month and have made at least 5 good soups so will restrict it to 4 stars but I foresee I will upgrade to 5 stars. No failures. I have found it better to restrict solids (Veg. etc) to 500g otherwise not much room for the stock or water. Usually get 2 servings each of 2 days.
To say it is/is not compact is not easy. It does have a small footprint so you might say it is compact - the jug does need to be large to accommodate the ingreients and I like the look of it. Unfortunately it is about 5mm too high to fit under our wall cupboards in the kitchen - but that is just down to our kitchen.
It does make good soup and so far I have had to adapt recipes that are for the more tedious way of making soup .i.e. in a pan etc. I have not tried it for boiling eggs or boiling other things - just soups. The manual is good and well written but there is no guidance on boiling eggs or other things - that will require a bit of trial and error.
It is certainly easy to operate but I have had problems with residue burning on the bottom plate - I think this has been caused by putting sautéed onions in first. I will not fry them in future but simply add them with the other veg. A tip to clean the baseplate back to showroom condition is (if their advice to use detergent fails) is to add about 1 teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda to about an inch of water in the jug; plus 2 Steradent tablets and press 'blend' for a few seconds. Keep repeating - it took me about 3 attempts just adding further doses to the water - leave it overnight or longer. No need to scrape it. Obviously depends how bad it is but don't use the machine again until you have cleared it; it might get worse!. Incidentally the Steradent tablets work well on cups and cutlery to clear tea and coffee stains.

Pleased with the AAA batteries
Only opened one packet of four (2 bought) they have charged well. Time will tell how long they last in my cordless phones.
They arrived quickly and were well packed - no problems
