Age related rubber rot
Its a difficult to find OEM thermostat yes but the equally difficult to find seal was dry rotted due to age.

OEM weights fit best
I've purchased weights that weren't the factory TaylorMade weights and have regretted it, From now on I'm sticking with the OEM ones.

Dirt Cheap and have held up very well.
I bought two of these as replacements for the factory scopes on my Remington 783 rifles and so far they've held up extremely well for such a inexpensive scope. I just couldn't beat the price on these with the $30 mail in rebate that was being offered. Now I wish I'd purchased several more. .
