    Teapot heaven or...
Not much organization here but more teapot ideas than anywhere on the planet. I bough the book for the ideas. For potters and ceramists, this is a significant treasury of different designs and glazes that may reveal an idea previously unconsidered. For browsing page-turners, a miniature coffee table book that is beautifully illustrated. I wish that the specifics of the glazes, clays and firing details were better commented. The photography is fabulous and the range of designs runs from almost ordinary to completely off the planet. A great gift for the budding potter or collector of teapots. A really neat book.

Good deal on a pipe tool.
Handy pipe tool with three basic functions each of which is needed from time to time. Well made, nicely finished, compact, easy to use.

    One of a pair?
This book should be used alongside The Art of War by the same translators as the two books compliment one another. Translations of ancient Chinese texts can be problematic and depend to a great extent not on the authors ability to translate the language but to interpret meaning. Much of the "mystery" of old Chinese and Japanese texts seems due to exact literal translations that lack even the most rudimentary attempts at interpretation of the ideas the old timers were trying to get across. This book and its companion, The Art of War, have both literal and interpretive sections so the reader that is looking for an understanding of the subject has it presented in an understandable way while the student of literature has the exact text at their disposal. The books are both well organized and contain lengthy preface and introductory sections which in themselves are worthwhile. Lest you shy away from interpretive translations, the team that did these two works took their time - ten years plus - and had very knowledgable and talented interpreters. Of the several translations I own, this one is by far the best and reading it is like lifting a veil as I kept saying to myself, "Oh, that's what they meant" in reference to all the others.
