Super gritty, not smooth at all, I have a 2 bearing reel from 1994 that is smoother.

Good affordable canister filter.
Works great , decently quiet and holds a ton of media. I have a 404 and a 403 running in my 75 gallon cabinet and with the door closed you can't hear them unless you are a couple of feet away, the air pump is louder than both canisters running.

Awesome
These are great and they fit a bunch of lews models including the newer sgh speed spins. They are very shallow though and I was able to get about 60 yards of spider wire stealth 15lb I n them which is plenty for casting. Probably not enough for trolling.
You can also use them to put lighter mono or fluorocarbon and not have to put 300 yards on a single spool. You can easily switch to a ultralight setup using the lews 300 size and because the spool is bigger than a 100 size you get far less line twist.
