Great story and great cast.
I will discuss the theme and story since that can easily be looked up on various film sites, but a good story and a great cast, the picture quality is ok I am not sure if this due to the original quality of the film, in any event I bought this hoping the quality was am improvement over a previous home recorded copy I had, and it was an improvement, but I am hopeful some independent will clean it even more and perhaps issues it on Blu Ray but for now this standard DVD version is fine. I said great cast again that can easily be looked upon but for many it is part of their early work, if your into classic films you should enjoy this one.

Charlie Chan/Warner Oland
Great set of the early Warner Oland's portrayal of Earl Derr Biggers "Charlie Chan" Good quality commercial release, not a low grade back room pirate version, includes many nice special features including the full feature (Spanish language feature) "Eran Trece" utilizing a different cast of actors.
These of course are from a different time, so portrayals of characters are different than what is seen today, it also lacks the blood and gore modern audiences seem to like, but this is what I like about these period features because blood and gore are not needed. While the mysteries of the Chan saga are generally not complicated, they are engaging and thought provoking, they provide some humor and Warner Oland's portrayal of Charlie Chan is at its best as the Chan character is soft spoken, intelligent and polite, (the latter) which is rarely seen in modern times.
