Useful but also nice to wear
The belt is not only useful to safely help someone walk, it is attractive, and might be taken for part of one's normal clothing, which I assume is the intent. I purchased one for my adult daughter, and we are both most pleased with it.

Memoirs From Beyond the Tomb
This is a modern abridgement of Chateaubriand's massive Mémoires d'Outre Tombe, and is a good introduction to this seminal write who spans two centuries and two ages. The first half of this volume is pretty representative of the unabridged work, and omits only a few scenes. The English is so smoothe, it gives the impression of a nonfiction novel.
It should be understood, however, that the second half of this volume is very abridged. The years depicted in this part of the book are far and away the majority of Chateaubriand's original text. I have mixed feelings about an abridgement this severe, but the editors and translators were aiming for the general readership, I believe, and wished to produce a volume that would actually be read, and not be lost in a maze of minutiae. In that, they have succeeded.
One could argue with what they chose to omit and what they chose to include, but if the reader proceeds with the understanding that these are selected scenes and not a complete edition of the work, a good understanding of this fascinating individual can be had. Chateaubriand lived through the beginnings of the French Revolution, travelled the infant United States, lived in exile, returned to Europe. He was a reluctant diplomat unafraid to oppose tyranny to its face, even in his own government. He met both Washington and Napoleon, assisted in the Bourbon Restoration, opposed Louis Philippe at the July Revolution. Being at the right place and time to be central to the events, he was also blessed with a masterful use of the language to depict it.
The present translator produces this work in masterful English. As said above, it is novel-like. It is Chateaubriand's voice, clear and unflinching throughout.
If this is the only Chateaubriand you ever read, you'll meet him here, without a doubt. If it inspires you to read him more, whether the complete Mémoires or his novels, even better. Adieu!

Great Bidet
Not knowing what to expect from a bidet kit, I was pleasantly surprised at this. It appears to be a quality product, and was very straightforward to install, with no trouble at all. The manufacturer seems to have wanted to make it such that anyone might install it. The only tools required were a knife to cut the tubing to length, and a wrench. Installation was very straightforward.
Using the bidet is also a pleasant experience. This is a hot-and-cold-water model, and I would recommend that over the cold-only. There are two controls, one for temperature and the other for strength of spray. These are simply valves (ie, not electric) and very easy to regulate. The self-cleaning feature is a push-button that shoots water down the outside of the spray nozzle.
Everything about this bidet, from installing to using it, was much easier than I expected, and I would definitely recommend it.
