Nice to have but not needed
1 of 1 found this helpful Having cool JL Audio everything is always the things to get, but this attenuator for around the 25-30 dollar price range is a bit far too much considering it is a cheap four wire rheostat. Manufacturer says it has solved the problem of either bass or no bass from the previous model, but this newer version is no different. To understand why is to know what a rheostat is made of. If you constantly adjust this control, you will eventually have to replace it faster than you think because the contact traces within the rheostat is what wears down. I am already noticing differences in adjustment and have to fiddle with going all the way up and down and then to a spot where I want it on. It has only been recently installed. Already thinking of disconnecting it. They should have come up with a new modern version but still using ancient tech to attenuate or a better control.

Good secondary receiver, but overheating is an issue you will have to solve
This is a good receiver and for a 6.1 system and the price you will find on Ebay, it is worth it. The only issue, and you will have to be tech savy, is that panasonic forgot to give it cooling vents. The unit heats up quite a bit and other people on the web have said it last only a couple of years. Well, thats because the unit burns itself up from overheating. So, I have have modified the top cover by drilling holes just above the main transistor and heat sink, now the cooling issue is solved, because the heat rises and escapes the chassis. A little creativity.
