A cheap and excellent shaving mug from Turkey
4 of 4 found this helpful This Turkish made, copper shaving mug is exactly what I was looking for. It's large and wide and even though it's made of metal it still has that shaving mug look. Unlike some of the other copper shave mugs that I've seen it is tin plated which makes it much more attractive (I really don't care for the look of the bare copper ones). It's nice and shiney with a rather elegant appearance. The construction is solid. While this mug is neither unbendable nor unbreakable it will easily survive being dropped or being knocked around; unlike your typical ceramic shave mug. The stamping which you can see on the outside of the mug is beneficial because it texturizes the inside of the mug. That texure seats the puck of shave soap inside of the mug thus keeping it from spinning or otherwise moving around while you're lathering the soap and loading your shaving brush. My favorite thing about this mug is that it's wide size and rounded bottom facilitates larger, wider, round-bottomed pucks of shaving soap that won't fit into a more traditional shaving mug. Such pucks include those from Caswell-Massey, The Art Of Shaving and Trufitt & Hill. Those type of luxury brands always want for you to buy one of thier own pricey shaving bowls that their shave soap pucks are designed to fit in only. While their are many who's answer to that problem (and I do consider it a problem) is to simply cut down the soap to fit it into a regular shaving mug. I refuse to do that because: A) I very much prefer shave mugs to bowls. And B) I really dislike the chore of having to cut down a nice new puck of shave soap to fit into a regular shave mug, especially if it happens to be a pricey luxery brand; cuz hey, if it's a luxery thier should not be an annoying choir involved with using it. I myself got this mug specifically for a large, round-bottomed puck of Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime Shave Soap. That puck sits in the bottom of this mug very nicely and it seated in the mug the very first time I lathered it up. Should you have a more regularly shaped and sized puck of shaving soap, like Williams or Van Der Hagen for example, they will fit nicely into this mug as their is a circular, flat indentation at the bottom of it that may very well be their just that purpose. This is a unique shaving mug. It's cheaply priced, very functional and I think, very cool looking. Shaving products made in Turkey are known for thier fine quality. This piece of shaving paraphernalia is no exception.

Good little shave brush stands for most, but not all, sized brushes
These shave brush stands are good. They're cheaply priced and they serve their intended purpose well enough. Though I must point out that they are somewhat small and are therefore only big enough to hold regular sized and thin handled shaving brushes. The vintage Old Spice Shaving Brushes along with others like them, Barbershop Brand (from the now defunct Franklin Toiletries Inc.) Shaving Brushes for example, will easily fit into these stands and, it should be noted, will look rather cool in them (see photos provided). However, large, thick handled shaving brushes also known as "professional shaving brushes" such as the Omega 10049 Professional Boar Hair Brush and the Proraso Professional Boar Bristle Brush (both pictured) are simply too thick and therefore will not fit in these brush stands. That is the reason I only gave these items four stars instead of five. However for the vast majority of shaving brushes these stands will definitely work and they are an excellent value.

A GOOD, SOLID AND SOMEWHAT CLASSIC EVERYDAY FRAGRANCE FOR MEN.
Aramis was rather popular back in the 1980s. So it is somewhat of a classic. It has a warm, spicey, incense like, somewhat Frankincense & Myrrh type scent. The aroma is very masculine. It is not terribly expensive or at least it shouldn't be. I never pay more than $40.00 for a bottle. And while it doesn't last as long as some other more expensive colognes it does have staying power as the fragrance does endure for more than a few hours. If you're going out it will last you for most of, if not the whole night. And I do get regular compliments on it. Aramis is a fine go-to or everyday cologne for men. All in all a good, solid fragrance value.
