An overlooked classic!
The real stars of this film are Harry Fowler, who plays leading character Joe who, along with his teenaged pals set out to solve this intriguing mystery - and the bomb-sites of post-war London, where he and his mates hang around a lot and where much of the action takes place. It's like looking at another world - a world that was still hanging on into my own childhood, ten years after this film was made.
This was, it seems, the very first of the "Ealing Comedies" - though it's more of a 'boys adventure ' than a comedy - even though there are surely funny moments in it!
Highly recommended!

An Excellent Optical Mousing Surface
With the advent of the Optical Mouse, it has become important to me for a mouse-mat to have a smooth surface that is printed with a fairly fine, overall pattern so that the mouse can detect the smallest movement and therefore give the best possible response.
This mouse-mat fulfils both of those requirements, with the added bonus that it's actually twice as BIG as I expected it to be! I'm very pleased with it!

An Excellent Max/Min Thermometer
This is a sturdy, tough, weatherproof and attractive piece of kit for anyone who wants to find out how cold it went down to the night before and how hot it got at the height of the day – as well as, of course, showing the current temperature at any time you want to look at it.
Scaled in both Celsius and Fahrenheit and extremely clear and easy to read, the two, maximum and minimum markers inside the glass tubing are easily reset back down to the ends of the mercury again by simply pressing the large button in the centre a few times, releasing them from the hidden magnetic strips at the back.
There are no fancy, unnecessary, electronic display screens on this model, so no batteries are used. This simple yet robust thermometer should give useful service for many, many years and was my first choice from the many that were available.
I’d recommend this to anyone!
