Movies with Muscles (& Monsters!)
What can one say about these old Italian muscle man movies?
Well, I'm not gay (not that there is anything wrong with that!) so I can't really comment on the so-called "homoerotic content" some critics seem to go on about, but I always enjoyed the heck out of these things when I was a kid & growing up would have done anything to have a big, buff & most importantly STRONG body like that (except, of course, do any actual exercise...).
And once again Something Weird Video has gone the extra mile to give use a great double feature with tons of extras with the films themselves (or at least the title main feature) having never looked better.
Lots of cool extras too, including a ton of trailers & a gallery of original poster art as well as a trio of short features including "Sons of Hercules vs. the Fire Monsters", which edits down one of the lesser Italian imports involving dinosaurs & cave-babes (with the latter making it obvious that make-up & hair product were discovered long before fire) to just the good stuff, so it's only about five minutes long (cool theme song though).

Not the wonder we were waiting for but still pretty wonderful in its own way.
A lot more fun than I remember it from when I first saw this 1974 feature length TV pilot way back when when it premiered on the ABC late movie.
Guess like everybody else I was upset because she wasn't the "real" Wonder Woman.
Now that we have the Linda Carter and Gal Gadot versions, however, I can enjoy this fun flick on its own seventies super-spy merits, gadget-packed bracklets, "Kung Fu"-style fight scenes and all..
Heck, even the full length costume looks pretty cool now and certainly something warmer to send your daughters out on Halloween in!

Watch out for jobs that come with strings attached...
A good old-fashioned B movie, nothing special really but still certainly quite enjoyable with some nice journeyman acting from the attractive cast.
It is, however, more interesting for the story behind the film than for the actual movie itself.
While the cliche "mad scientist experiments on his assistant" plot of this film is very similar to the 1973 film ''Sssssss'' only with puppets instead of snakes, it was originally planned to be much different.
''Curse of the Puppet Master'' was originally meant to be the first of an epic ''Puppet Wars'' trilogy where Andre Toulon & his creations would battle the Mummy, Frankenstein & Dracula, with Guy Rolfe set to return as Toulon & Turhan Bey being considered for the part of a mysterious Egyptian.
Funding fell through at the last minute, but not before second unit footage was shot of an old-fashioned steam train in Romania, footage that was eventually used in ''Retro Puppet Master''.
With the usual fine extras you expect from a Full Moon feature, including the obligatory "VideoZone" making-of documentary.
