Blades fit lose
Purchased these blades because they are not easily found at a craft store and I needed to replace my blade. It is the only type available for my paper trimmer. It is not a snug fit and can fall out at times while cutting. I have to make sure it is seated properly before cutting my paper. Because there aren't any other blades available on the market I have had to rig my trimmer so the blade stays in place.

Practice makes perfect foiling
1 of 1 found this helpful Requires several practice tries with different cardstock shims and pressure settings on manual die cut machine to get the perfect foil. Also the quality of cardstock used makes a a difference. Once you understand the correct set-up then it works great! I returned my original purchase from shopping network but decided to give it a second try because I loved the idea of it's versatility. Glad I did!
This machine is portable and can be used with any manual die cut machine. Only issue is in the pressure applied by your die cut machine. I use a brand new Cuttlebug but understand that a Sizzix Big Shot is probably a better choice. Either works. My method for getting a perfect quality foil is to let GoPress heat up longer than the recommended 30 seconds before running through my Cuttlebug. I then place the foil stamp on heating plate with the foil and cardstock. After several practice tries, I was able to determine the correct amount of shims to apply the right pressure. I use one sheet of chipboard and 2 pieces of cardstock in my Cuttlebug sandwich to get the perfect foil. I let the sandwich heat up twice as long as required before removing from the base unit. I then run it slowly through the Cuttlebug to apply pressure. I have tried using 110lb cardstock and textured cardstock. Both work nicely. The GoPress is also versatile in that you can letterpress with it and emboss using hot foil stamps and embossing folders. Only heat apples foil can be used. Doesn't work with toner reactive foils such as Deco foil. . You can also use other manufacturer's thin dies, but note that it will only foil the edge that is normally used as the cutting edge. This machine cannot be used as a die cutting platform!
Because this product was just launched, there are limited hot foil stamps and hot foil available through the shipping network. I expect more products will be available in the future. Once you figure out the set-up for your machine you will enjoy using the GoPress and Foil. I gave it a second try and am pleased with the outcome. It's a fun crafting machine once you get it working. If I didn't have to fiddle with it as much I would have rated it five stars, but I still love it!
