Bose Wave Radio AWR1-1W Review
2 of 2 found this helpful We had one in an office I worked at over a decade ago. I always liked the sound of it and I needed something small for my home office / man cave. There isn't room for a component system and I didn't want the visual clutter of one anyway. The Bose unit is very nice looking and the first gen are well priced used. It came with a remote for a Bose Wave Radio w/CD player and the seller said he couldn't guarantee the remote worked. I put a new battery in the remote and it didn't work. I looked around and on the Bose site saw they had the best prices and selection of remotes. I got the one for the Wave Radio without CD player for $15 and it works perfectly. I think the remotes for the CD and non-CD version aren't compatible. As far as the sound - it's good and will fill the room as loud as I dare, and sounds good at low volumes as well. Like many reviewers, I wish it had bass and treble controls, but the sound is fine. I'm totally sure that if I had a component system or a larger boombox I might get better sound, but this was $100, looks great, is all one small unit and puts out a pleasant big stereo sound. To make it more versatile, I purchased a bluetooth receiver and plugged it into the AUX port on the back. Now I mainly stream Pandora, Spotify and YouTube through it. I paid about $25 for the bluetooth receiver on Amazon (Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter for Bluetooth Streaming). I have it sitting on a small mahogany end table and it looks as sharp as can be.

Great vegetable peeler
After my old trusty Ecko vegetable peeler got dull, I started looking for a replacement. I've been pretty leery of US brands that shipped manufacturing to China because usually the quality just isn't there anymore. They use inferior steel or they get the tolerances wrong. I made that mistake once on a Swing-A-Way can opener. I searched for something similar to replace it - and I really wanted a simple, well made tool, just like the old Ecko. No plastic handle, no need for something really fancy looking, just a plain, good, well made kitchen tool. I found it in this peeler made by Jonas. Very high quality - I would say higher quality than the old US made Ecko peelers that are no longer available. It's sharp, fits the hand comfortably and I have really enjoyed using it. This was a great purchase and I would do it again. I may even buy a few of these for my friends and family, I like it so much.
