The 8-ounce feeder actually holds less than 7 oz. - I have measured it. The birds drain it in a few hours when there are several feeding. They seem to really like sitting around this feeder together, especially before sunset (Happy Hour). I have mainly black-chinned and Allen's hummingbirds here in Los Angeles. I've been using these for several years and because it's glass you have to be very careful washing and hanging it. I have broken a few. Best method I have found is to fill the glass indoors and take it outside where you then put the metal cap and base on. Then quickly flip it upright to hang it. If you're careful, it will last a long time. Watch for black mold in the plastic base and wash weekly with mild dishwashing soap and a brush. A very small paint brush works good for me. Use a bottle brush in the glass part. Triple rinse all the soap out. Great feeder. Doesn't drip and bees have a hard time getting to the juice (they still try in the summer though). Clean feeders at least weekly, and before refilling.
