Best book to wake people up for the coming collapse.
Though not the most in depth, technical explanation of debt backed fiat currency and economics the book does not try to portray itself as such. Instead think of this book more like a great introduction to US economic history, abridged, as to where we came from where went and what our ultimate end destination is.
The puns and similes to the people in Usonia and the US are uncanny and very amusing. It is a lot like a family movie, like Shrek. The children can read it and understand it while the adults can laugh at the jokes like Brent Barnacle dropping money from palm trees or Jim W Bass asking Hank Plankton if he was the same guy who used to work at the companies that caused the 'hut' crises.
Granted a lot of liberties were taken, for example the characters that portray Greenspan and Beranke enter the stage in the 40s to 60s during the Brettonwoods system in the book and Paulson's counterpart in the book was the President of Fannie and Freddie where in real life he was a Goldman Sachs hack. Other that, and Peter admits in the prologue that he took a lot of liberties and re-arranged people and their positions for the purpose of storytelling, it is a great book. Just make sure when you hand out copies of this book at family re-unions and parties to friends to let them know about 'some' of the liberties that he took.
This book by far is the easiest and most entertaining book for people to read to bring them up to speed about how money is supposed to work, why pure paper currencies are inherently faulty and not sustainable, and how we're going to fall and get crushed by China if we continue on this path. Buy several, pass them out to your NY Times reading family members, wake em up! This is the book to do that with people!
