An excellent book at a give away price
This is an excellent book and a hardback at that, for 99 pence? it is a gift. All Anne Perry's books are very good and I have read most of them. I believe that they appeal to male readers equally as well as female readers. Her knowledge and understanding of Victorian life and human nature is uncanny and her ability to weave a good plot and keep the reader guessing, is unsurpassed. Because most of the titles are quite old now, they are being withdrawn from my library and I have to rely on sources such as e bay to find the books which I have not yet read.
We live in a world of plenty in UK and it is very difficult for people to conceive just how harsh and utterly miserable life was for the poor in Victorian society and just how selfish and bigoted the people of means were in those days. I thank god that I am alive today and born just after the war, I have enjoyed the best standard of living that humans have ever experienced in all of their history. I just hope that todays people can see fit to leave a little for future generations. - Clive

The Midas Method is a must for those people who wish to be self employed.
2 of 2 found this helpful Actually, I already had a copy of this excellent little book, but I had mislaid it. Thinking I had lent it out, which I have done in the past ( sorry Stuart Goldsmith I know you forbid this- buy your own, is what you say!) I bought this present copy to replace it, then straight away, found the mislaid copy, so I now have two!
The Midas Method is a must for those people who wish to be self employed and make their own success in life. Stewart has a most acute understanding of human nature and exploits this in his tutorial of how to succeed in life and how to avoid the pitfalls. The book is almost brutal and unforgiving in it's approach to human failings and weaknesses, although it is also very entertaining in many areas.I have been a fan of Stewart's for many years now and have employed many of his teachings from this small book. It is a must for anyone starting in business and for anyone who has low self esteem and lacks confidence. During my life I have progressed from a timid tongue tied shrew, to a total extrovert who is never short of something to say and is just as much at ease conversing with a total stranger as to an old friend. I have to say now that I am King these days and like it very much.
You will definitely see your own weaknesses and those of many others revealed in this little book it is a real treasure.

Just what I needed.
I won't use them until next year as I've made all the jam I need for this year. I bought them because I have jars with reusable screw on lids and i don't need the complete sets of covers and wax discs. It's not easy to buy just the discs, so i was very pleased to find these discs for sale separate..
