Entertaining movie with nice special effects, charming if predictable plot
Like in a lot of fairy tales, you have to take some of the information on faith and avoid looking for plausibility or logic. But the special effects are clever, and the hero is charmingly awkward and Simu Liu gives a creditable performance. I was less taken by the acting (overacting?) of his female sidekick, the actress who for some reason thought it very clever to scramble the name of a brand of bottled water (Aqua Fina) and go by the very awkward "Awkwafina." In its essence, this is a coming of age story--with a cruel father, a mother who dies too young, and a hero who tries to find himself. The latter part of the story is saved by the always great Michelle Yeoh, and, of course, by lots of dragons--good ones and bad ones, to bring this story to a "Happy End" conclusion. Prior to this, the bad dragons cause an awful lot of killings and carnage in the village--the sight of a field of bodies may be disturbing to the younger set. Shang-Chi II is in the works, so expect a new movie next year, hopefully with more dragons.

In love with love in a small Australian town
Love Serenade is a story of two sisters living in a small Australian town who desperately want to fall in love and marry. Trouble is the only bachelor in town is an itinerant disc jockey who isn't exactly marriage material. Both sisters don't let this fact stand in the way, however, and try their darnest to get on the disc jockey's good side in whatever way possible. And, since each at first doesn't known the other one is already secretly sleeping with the man of their dreams, understandable complications ensue. Although this movie has comedic elements and is downright funny at times, this is not strictly a comedy. It should be considered a comedy/drama. But - if you like character studies and appreciate the quirky nature of most human relationships, you will enjoy this clever Australian film.

IL DIVO still a wonderful quartet, but pointless interview stuck in middle very annoying
I really like the four IL DIVO singers, and their voices are still great. I did not care for the fact that a rather inept interview was stuck in the middle of the DVD. It might have worked if they had something interesting to say, but they didn't, and just kept repeating themselves, and very badly at that. Apparently, the quartet produced this show and presumably the DVD themselves--but I think they need to call Simon Cowell for advice--who I'm sure would tell them to leave out interviews that make them look pathetic and amateurish. All interviews are best left as a special feature; don't interrupt the concert when you literally have zero to say. My suggestion to viewers: Speed through this unwelcome interruption--and get back to the singing. For me personally, this particular IL DIVO show was good, but I found the dancers distracting and unnecessary, I buy IL DIVO for their singing, not their backup dancers. And for God's sake, would someone please tell Carlos Marin that his sleazy flirting may have been cute (very briefly) 15 years ago, but that's no longer the case. He has a great voice, but he could use a public persona transplant. HIs commentary is often cringeworthy and a real turnoff. (The other three guys were and still are a class act). That said, from a singing perspective, the IL DIVO guys still have it. Except as noted above, this is an enjoyable concert.
