Nut size I metric m5 x .8
i read a lot of reviews on this switch. Many say you have to modify the spring by cutting some of the coil off. Some say you need to take a dremel to the bezel to allow this to fit. I got this to fit my 65 mustang without any modifications whatsoever. the spring is definitely stronger than stock, but that's a good thing cause it keeps the switch locked in the dash better when you insert the key and twist.
I took the gauge pod out of the dash so I could easily provide better push to the switch to compress the spring better without having to climb under the dash. No better way to do this in my opinion, but it does take more time. Push in hard with one hand while inserting chrome bezel with the other. Seat the bezel in the notches in the dash, then lightly twist ignition switch until it seats in the bezel notch just right.
Next, the switch doesn't come with a nut, and the stud size is different than the factory ignition switch I had so the nut from my old switch didn't fit. I measured the stud size and it Is metric m5 x .8
I went to pep boys and bought a bag of 3 nylock nylon lined nuts for a couple bucks so it won't come unscrewed with vibration or heat and screwed it on using the old washer from the existing switch.
Inserted key switch and it turned over perfectly. Will update later if it fails early, but so far, perfect.
Hope the review helps you
