Poor Pwerformance
The original ejector has been in the well for 30 years, along with the poly pipe. The pipe developed a leak along one of the fusion seams. The pump has been on the ejector system for 15 years. The cast iron ejector came up as a big ball of rust. The intent was to reuse it, but in the process, I broke off a part of the threaded 1 inch port on the ejector trying to remove the rusty nipple.
The FP4800P2 matched all the criteria as the original, Sears parts ( I Have the books on it). Replaced it with a new one from this vendor, cast iron, same catalog numbers as original, same nozzle as the original. Used new pipe of the same identical type and size. The water table has not changed over the years (73 Ft.).
The original flow rate was 12 gal/min. The new flow rate is now 10.1 gal/min. There is nothing I can do to the drive pressure to increase this flow rate. I have 24 zones of yard watering systems that would hold about 55 lbs of tank pressure. This allowed me to use short demand of water in the house. Now I can only get about 35 to 40 lbs of tank pressure. Since this is on the bottom of the tank precharge pressure, when I use water in the house, the tank water pressure drops to about 20 lbs.
So, the moral of my story is; If you have a matched system such as I had, don't order this ejector for the replacement. There is something not right in the fabrication of this ejector. Are they all like this, or did I just get a defective one! I am not sure which way I will go now. For the work it takes to replace it, DON'T DO IT!
