Tales of the Epps family in the early days of Tallahassee, Florida
Well accounted history of Thomas Jefferson's grandson Francis Epps's family that moved to Tallahassee with his family (7 children) in 1826. "Conditions were generally terrible in Tallahassee during the Eppes' time. The "MAGNOLIA MONTHLY", quoting from a report following an epidemic of yellow fever in 1841, described "human skeletons shambling down the sidewalks to the capitol . . . ".
