Great CPU if you can find it with HT
I have this chip paired with a T5810. This CPU is not unlocked. There are a few different variations for this chip. The CPU was originally made for Amazon so it's a little difficult to find information. The chip that I got has an all core boost of 3.2, all 10 cores 20 threads. Not bad. The only issue with my chip is that it's the PROC so for some reason TB on one core is not active. There are other versions that do not have HT, some have lower core counts, so buyer beware.
When it comes to VR this is a really good choice. Xeons are all about stability and in this regard it absolutely does not disappoint. I've paired the cpu with a RTX 2060, GTX 1070ti and a GTX 1080ti. There is no bottleneck with any of these GPU's. Normal gaming on 1080 and 1440 is also more than adequate. Also, I have one of these that I installed in my son's computer. He had a E5-2667 v3 but that chip runs hotter than the sun and was actually disappointing. Changing to the E5-2666 was a huge improvement and in all honestly runs much better than the 2667 even though the base is lower.
Productivity with this CPU is really where you get the most out of it. Having those 10c/20t with the base of 2.9 really helps in multiple applications. I have a few other Xeons from this era. (E5-2667 v3, E5-2660 v3, E5-2690 v3 and an E5-2630 v3.) I can tell you that the E5-2666 v3 is my best chip out of all of them. This cpu is completely stable and can do just about anything I can throw at it.
I was on the fence about giving this a perfect review. I did not because there are to many variations of this chip. Mine does not have the single core turbo boost but does have all core. I can tell you that out of the chips I have that this one is by far the best.

Great CPU for Production and mid level gaming
This is a pretty good CPU. I have others that perform better for gaming. For production this CPU is up there and reliable. If you are into mid level gaming but need a CPU for streaming then this might just be the golden ticket for you.
