Superbly Dry Comedic Action Flick
OK, I'm biased, but this is a fabulous movie. Funny as all of Walter M's work, and just suspenseful enough. Ned Beatty plays the perfect heel. It is old, but I feel that it has aged well. Walter's character, Kendig, seems a lot like the everyman emanation of James Bond or Ethan Hawke, but gruffer and much more playful.

Reliably Good Bobbie Ann Mason
An Atomic Romance is not without its similarities to Mason's more popular In Country. Her protagonist here is tightly bound to the locale within which he exists, although un-Mason-like this locale is generalized and not her more familiar rural Kentucky. Acting on him are all those forces, external and internal, which he should bow to but instead avoids. The novel is timely as it deals with the world of nuclear power, and it is timeless as it is romance driven. The romantic pair, each middle-aged and with the previous scars and baggage of lives lived, are easily empathasized and even with their flaws, likeable. The minor characters are Mason-perfect wise and funny and entertaining as they journey with the romantic pair. An enjoyable and relatively easy read which is well worth the effort.

As Stout As It Looks--And Comfy
1 of 1 found this helpful The chair looks strong in the photo, and the real thing is not a disappointment. It is well built. The thick padding is a plus and noticeable after sitting a while--those thinner pads don't hold up under me, a large fellow. The only, very minor, complaint I have--which doesn't ding the performance score for me--is that the chair imprints a bit. In other words, after occupying it for some time, a noticeable wrinkle may develop here or there. This does not affect performabce or comfort.
