Perfect Miniatures to Fill in American Girl Rooms
These adorable vintage miniatures can be used as more than pencil sharpeners. My hobby is making small doll rooms for my American Girl dolls (they are not considered "miniatures, because they are 48" wide and 24" tall and deep). I discovered these when I was looking for old-timey looking things for Kit's attic bedroom, then expanded my search when I moved on to desk lamps for their desks. I plug the pencil sharpener holes with air-drying clay and put a piece of cotton string painted black in the middle for their cords. I bake black Fimo "plugs" in 2 pieces and glue them together at the ends of the cords. The trains, planes, ships, and canons make great old-fashioned toys to display on their shelves. The coffee grinders (they come in a small household size and a larger commercial size for my AG bakery) are perfectly in scale. The telephones are great, and if you can get or afford the official AG candlestick phone for Kit, they have those in just SLIGHTLY under. If you put the old-fashioned box wall phone on the wall no one will notice. The later-style models are also a bit too small, but sitting on a bedside table they look fine. Horse scultures, sports figures, former presidents: all are good fill for decorating small spaces. Look at these and think outside the box!

Realistic, Adorable, and Well-made
Like many American Girl products, this pet is both high quality and adorable. It is, like many AG animals, a sewn body made of a sueded material over a flocked plastic body. This process leads to a more substantial and realistic approximation of a real animal's conformation.
If you are an AG collector, it may interest you to know that there are 2 versions of this little orphan goat. The first, issued by Pleasant Company, has darker spots and more black on the body. On the later, 2007 edition that I bought and am reviewing, the spots are lighter and they have reduced the size of the spots so there is more white on the body. Both are adorable.
