It does protect the screen , but touch functions will no longer work through plastic ....
Yup , you read that right .. It WILL protect your screen... No doubt about that .. But it protects it SO WELL ... The screen will no longer register touch functionality .....
SO as a trade off ... I would say if you no longer need to 'slide to unlock' , and no longer need to choose menus to operate your nook simple touch .. then go for it ..
If you actually USE your nook simple touch .. don't get it ...

Arctic Silver 5 - High Density Thermal Interface Compound / Heatsink material
This is one of THE BEST thermal compounds available to this day .. Compared to standard thermal paste , if applied properly , I see 5-8 degree decreases over generic thermal pastes ... I don't have to tell you when overclocking , heat is the enemy . Another 5-8-10 degrees is AMAZING ; and allows for that much more stability while overclocking CPUs , GPUs , Chipsets , etc . I have been a steady user of this material for around 3- 3 1/2 years now ; and will continue using it until phazed out and no longer in production . I am currently overclocking an unlocked intel 3.4 quad core to 4.5 24/7 (Massive Noctua heatsink) ; but I CAN overclock at a maximum of 5.0 ghz with chilled air ... AMAZING ...
Back in the early days of intel / amd cpus Slot 1's 300 celerons , etc ; it was hit or miss on which thermal paste to use and what cooling setup . I'm going to suggest if you have the extra $5-8 this usually goes for on Ebay , TRY IT at least , make up your own mind , compare it to other thermal pastes . A review website is good for gathering suggestions and all that , but real world results are what you are looking for . This is all my opinion ; but those are my finds , hope it helps !
