Mu Metal for Speciality Magnetics
Mu Metal is an excellent material for creating magnetic shields and audio transformers with broad frequency response into the ultrasonic range. I needed to replace missing head shields for some vintage floppy drives I was restoring and fabricate custom transformers to be used in the 40 kilohertz range. The Mu Metal sheets proved to be perfect for my application.

Transformers built to last.
2 of 2 found this helpful These are a quality product built to last from decades ago. I've worked as an electronics technician and instructor for the past fifty years. The only time I've seen one of these fail is because they were abused without proper circuit protection. The windings on these transformers are neatly wound so that the wires run parallel to each other and don't cross over themselves. Each layer is insulated from the one below it. Modern transformers are scramble wound and more likely to fail. I bought a quantity of these to use in labs for my electronics program where forgiveness from time to time is needed.

Putting it back together
2 of 2 found this helpful I have more watches than I care to admit and inevitably I needed to replace some batteries. My watch repair kit had the right tool for taking the backs off, but not for putting them back on. The methods I saw on You Tube didn't work for me. What I needed was a watch press with the right accessories. This press comes with a wide variety of round dies and some serve double duty by simply turning them over. However, there are no rectangular dies. Other than that, this worked great for me. It's well made and should provide years of service.
