Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 35mm f/2.8 Non-Ai Lens

Great value Nikkor

For pics: Sharp but not the sharpest. Fast, but not the fastest. Overall a great "lens cap" lens for getting a variety of shots. Well built and smooth like all manual focus Nikkor lenses. You won't be disappointed, but you won't be blown away, either. Very capable for most purposes. Definitely a great value. For video: This is a great lens. Great focal length-even if shooting crop sensors - or crop 4K. Smith focus pulling, small lightweight, and plenty of sharpness for video. You can build up a great set of older MF 52 mm front thread nikon primes that handle and shoot great for little money. They are great for portability/run and gun, and are capable enough for cinematic and artistic clips. This should definitely be in your arsenal of video primes.

Better than OEM! I can't believe the improvement! No more shimmy!

I thought my motor was mounted well. I thought the little screws were tight. I had some vibration at speed and a shimmy in the head stick when powering down. I feared the cones were warped. No. I just needed these longer, higher quality screws to properly secure the electric motor. You can really tighten down the motor multiple times better with these quality screws and washers than what you can with the OEM screw and lock washers. Five minute install and now my Mark V it's running like new!

Great legendary optic!

This lens has a long and storied history with a legion of photographers singing it's praises. Add me to that list. This lens is much improved over the previous push-pull design which I previously owned. People claim it isn't for sports. I disagree. While it isn't the fastest focusing lens, it is fast and accurate. But this lens isn't perfect. While great at 2.8, it does show some color fringing in high contest areas. Also, it performs better at around 180mm than 200mm. But like almost all lenses, the extremes are never the strongest showing. But the extremes are totally usable. The amazing performance of the lens shows the slight compromises of it's extreme settings. Out of focus areas are pleasing. Handling is good but not as great as Nikon MF lenses. The build quality is second to none. It really is a great lens.
