Black Wind Howlin' by Samantha Fish (CD, Sep-2013, Ruf Records)
Dec 11, 2023
If you like electric blues/rock/etc.
I discovered Samantha Fish about a month ago, and have two CDs and one on the way.
Very refreshing and competent, but you have to like the genre: mostly electric blues (lots of slide), but also rock, acoustic, a bit of country. She does most of her own guitar, all her vocals.
If you like Johnny Winter, Bugs Henderson, Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless, Fish sorta mashes them all together.

Finely detailed little tank.
These kits are all very well-detailed, fit very well, have clear instructions and typically multiple options with copious extra parts. The Stuart was no exception. Fine little kit.
I would definitely test-fit the tracks before committing to glue; they have several curved sections.
My only quarrel with the kit is that the US tank commander did not fit well.

Enjoyable Blues-Country
My fourth Sam Fish album. I loved Wild Heart and Black Wind Howlin', but hated Faster and so went back further. Good choice.
The CD is a combination of blues but with a lot more country (well, it IS called "Belle of the West"). I enjoy it, solid.
The main talking point is the recording/sound quality. Nothing wrong with it, but it has a decidedly Campfire sort of vibe. I mean, not the spit 'n' polish of your typical studio set, more naked & gritty. My guess is that was by design.
A good CD.
