An American tour de force
Aside from the make-up and acting geunius that allowed Dustin Hoffman to age over 60 years and still be believable, the movie examines not only American history, but individual human behavior with a loving microscope. Full of wisdom, joy, evil, and yes...sadness. Outstanding movie.
