BIO-key SideTouch Compact Enterprise Level USB Fingerprint Reader for Windows He

For Me - not very effective

I have a HP Envy laptop with a built in fingerprint scanner that misses a scan maybe 1 in 40 or 50 times. A second swipe over the scanner always gets it. I bought the Bio-Key SideTouch based on the fact that is is recommended by Microsoft. My fingerprints are not in good shape due to age, wear and tear or whatever, and this scanner only gets maybe 1 in 10 scans. This may not be a problem for someone younger with better defined prints. The thing is, why does the HP Envy swipe style scanner work so well when the Sidetouch performance is so poor. Installation was simple. Plug in, wait for driver to download then set up a PIN and scan your print.
