A great trimmer with a couple of caveats.
Very robust, great tool. High speed is very powerful---use protective eyewear!!!!!(and a pair is included---nice, Makita!) Comes with twisted line, great cutting of tough stuff. Low speed is actually fine for most stuff. Homeowners don't need anything more powerful or heavier line----leave that to the pros. Easy to load the spool, and it advances easily with a tap to the ground (have not tried the saw yet...). Some assembly quirks, but nothing major.
The cons: On high, the battery runs down faster than I expected. Luckily I am an all Makita guy, so I have batteries. But I was a little surprised, so don't use high unless you have to, and if you don't have an extra battery better get one, especially if you have a lot of trimming to do. Second, the connection point for the strap isn't in the best place for balancing the tool, and there is no way to adjust that. I think I might try counter-weighting the trimmer shaft. Finally, too bad it doesn't come with the wider guard.
