Sturdy, attractive, well worth the price - don't bother with the standard 1" diameter poles
1 of 1 found this helpful I was a bit taken aback by the price of this product, but now that I've installed it, the bird feeder pole is worth every penny. The standard poles are 1" in diameter, and fitted with a 3-prong fork that you push into the ground. My old feeder pole bent with the wind, even with the prongs set into the ground as deep as possible. But this pole is 2" in diameter, made of heavier gauge metal, and is driven 18" into the ground (using the built-in auger). It is STURDY and attractive, and the squirrel baffle does seem to work very well. I had to have our landscaper install the pole into the ground - I just wasn't strong enough to generate the torque needed (and my husband was out of town). We then put some quick-curing cement at the base to further secure the pole. The birds love to perch on the arms up on top, and I can hang the big bird feeders that I got from Costco without worrying about bending the arms. Highly recommend, don't bother wasting your money on the standard 1" diameter poles.
