Best Handy Talkie for the money!
Absolutely the best HT for the money. I have owned Kenwood, Yeasu and many other brands. Certainly, they have superior points but they cost 10 times the money. But it is difficult to argue that the Baofeng products are poor quality even when compared to the upper brands. Yes, programming the Baofeng product is more difficult?? Well, that is until you take time and read the instructions on how to program the Baofeng. Years ago I made a step by step process on how to do this. Success at last! Recently I bought a BAQIIE BJ-218, another made in China product. Guess what? The Baofeng Check List worked perfectly.
Anyway, what about performance? The Baofeng 4 to 5 Watt radio will hit our REPEATERS 15 to 20 miles away. That gives me 100+ miles coverage and it's done with a $25 HT. If you are like me and take care of your stuff--regardless of price, then the Baofeng will last as long as any radio that you may purchase.
I like to add an 18" antenna ($6.00) and a genuine leather case ($6.00) and I am ready to go! I haven't done this yet, but if I left it on the ground following Field Day and couldn't recover it, I'd be very upset. But not as much as if I'd lost a$250 to $399 radio on the ground.
Certainly there are some downsides to the Baofeng. The case is not as tough as the Kenwood HT. There are other options as well. And so it is.
I still enjoy the simple financial benefits of the Baofeng products though. Couple that with their performance and simplistic setups and you just can't beat the Baofeng.
I hope this helps and doesn't confuse you. It's a great buy and fun to play with.
73's to all of you!
Thanks,

Excellent CB Radio !!
This particular CB Radio is an old unit. However it turns out that it is an exceptional unit. It performs well. Output is about 4.9 Watts with 1:1.2 SWR. Great buy with various options; in particular the microphone is wired so that the volume can be adjusted on the fly. Overall a winner!
