Sometimes you just need exactly the right tool for the job. This is one of those tools!
Exactly what you need to adjust USA-made strat or tele truss rod without scratching up the wood. Perfect fit for a nice, positive interaction with the truss rod, no worries about slipping and stripping anything, and yes, you DO need the extra long (but not TOO long! this one is perfect!) "shorter end" to do this. Most hardware tools are too short.
Messing up a truss rod or ruining a nice finish on an expensive instrument is no fun. Spend a few bucks and buy some of these and do these adjustments yourself, making sure you know how. Last time I dropped a guitar off at a guitar center for similar adjustment because I lacked this tool, it came back with scratches at the truss rod opening... Do yourself a favor and get this!
