Gloriously funny take on British history as it used to be taught.
This is a wonderfully funny though really old-fashioned book, written in the early 20th-century, parodying the way history used to be taught, and along the way mangling facts and elaborating (and confusing) myths. Memorable events in English history include the Disillusion of the Monasteries; the struggle between the Cavaliers (characterised as "Wrong but Wromantic") and the Roundheads (characterised as "Right but Repulsive"), and memorable characters the Venomous Bede, Broody Mary, and Flora McNightlight (with her doses of deadly lampshade). However, you probably have to be at least 50 to enjoy it properly - probably older. That said, it's a classic and gloriously, zanily funny (as well as the origin of phrases like calling someone a Good (or Bad) Thing).

Nice texture for absorbing dust, which makes these really useful for corners, bookshelves, tops of pictures, etc.

Quiet, elegant, but comes with very poor instructions
I particularly like the appearance of this ceramic fountain (NB it has LED lights in the top, where the water emerges, which were not mentioned or shown in the listing - rather a white light, and I'd actually prefer not to have this feature, but there is no way of eliminating it. The pump is quiet. In my experience so far, it is impossible to get it upright enough for a stream of water from all four little spouts, and the pump is anyway not strong enough to produce this. It isn't as strong as the picture suggests (the streams are thinner than shown in the photo) but that is fine as it might splash if there were more. In terms of how it looks and sounds when playing, I am generally quite pleased.
BUT - the instructions for assembly and use are practically useless. They consist of three tiny diagrams. They do not tell you to avoid plugging in the unit before you have filled it (there is no on-off switch so the pump will start working as soon as it's plugged in; I now have mine plugged to a 4-gang extension lead that has switches, so I can control this). They do not tell you whether both flexes (which emerge from underneath the top unit, and come to a junction in the main flex that joins the mains) should drape outside the unit, or be coiled in the bottom part of the unit where they would be underwater. They do not tell you that there is a flow adjustment level on the pump. They do not tell you how much water to put in (answer, enough for it to sit in the "moat" around the bottom unit - it is essential for the pump always to be covered, or it may burn out), or that you need to top this up from time to time. I am astonished that there isn't even a photograph of the back of the fountain when it is assembled, showing how the wires are supposed to emerge.
So - I rank this very good as far as aesthetics go (it suits my taste), fine as far as function goes (though the lights were a surprise, and the pump seems a bit weaker than I expected - but nice and quiet), and troubling from the point of view of electrical safety and the good maintenance and running of the product. I would suggest consulting someone with electrical knowledge before actually running it.
