RPM Model Kit Niszczyciel Czotgow UE 630(F) w/German Markings WWII 1/35 # 35045
    Oct 30, 2015
A good model of a rare WWII German vehicle.
Most Models are based on very well known tanks, self propelled guns, and armored personnel carriers. Here is your chance to build something off the beaten path. During the early part of World War II when the German Army seemed unstoppable, a lot of enemy equipment fell into their hands. The Germans being a practical sort, often modified and used captured enemy equipment. This model represents such a ( lash up) vehicle. The vehicle is a captured french tankette on which the Germans mounted a 3.7 anti tank gun. This model is not for beginners, or young modelers. The model is 1/35 scale, and well executed. The molds are crisp, clean, and well defined, but there are a lot of very small parts. There is also a small sheet of photo etched parts, this is why I say this model is not for beginners or younger modelers. The directions are very simple to follow, consisting of exploded line drawings showing the steps to follow for building the kit. There is no text in the assembly instructions. There are some nice touches, namely the company provided a complete model of the anti tank gun so you will have some spare parts left over for scratch building. Included in the kit is a large decal of a National Socialist Party flag. The crews of German armored fighting vehicles would often display the Party flag on their vehicles in order to prevent their own units from firing on them. The practice of displaying a large "Party Flag" was essential when using captured enemy vehicles. Soldiers and Aircrew have a tendency to fire at silhouettes, and enemy vehicles long before they can identify vehicle markings. Say what you want about the flag of the National Socialist Party, but you have to admit it was hard to miss. That's why German soldiers used it to keep their own side from shooting at them. The model company included this flag for historical accuracy, and no other reason. so don't be offended when you open the box and find yourself looking at 1/35 scale flag of the National Socialist Party. DO NOT THINK THE INCLUSION OF THIS FLAG IN THE KIT IS AN ENDORSEMENT OF NATIONAL SOCIALISM AND IT'S POLICIES. This "Flag" is simply included to allow you to build a historically accurate representation of what this vehicle would have looked like on campaign. The box art cover shows four German soldiers, but their are no figures included in this kit. All in all this is a great chance to build a good model of one of the rarer vehicles used by the Germans in World War II, This vehicle was used in almost all theaters where the German Army fought. Pick up this kit if you can, it will be an interesting addition to your collection and fun to build.
    Tamiya 35254 U S Army M26 Pershing/Eduard Barrel Combo 1/35 NEW
    Nov 03, 2015
    Great Model, Great Barrel
Tamiya produced a really great kit with their M26 Pershing offering. The kit is well detailed, and the parts were crisp and clean. The instructions are very clear, and easy to follow. As with all Tamiya kits every thing fits together nicely. The texture of the steel on the turret is even accurately reproduced. I saw and examined these tanks ( used a monuments now) when I was stationed in Korea, so I can vouch for the accuracy of the last statement. Now what I am about to write next is not a criticism of Tamiya's kit, but this kit comes with the gun barrel in two halves which are glued together to make the gun barrel. This leads to prominent mold lines on the gun barrel which must be eliminated through various modeling techniques. Luckily for me, the kit I bid on and won, had a single piece metal M26 barrel from BARREL DEPOT. A really nice touch. When you look at a model of a tank you don't want to see mold lines where none should be. Also a metal gun barrel is straight, and will not warp with age, or if the model is left in sunlight. Some plastic tank models with long main gun barrels, come warped from the factory. A metal barrel from BARREL DEPOT solves these problems. The Pershing was the only American Tank produced during World War II which was touted to be on roughly equal footing with the German Panther or Tiger, The 90mm gun was still inferior to the Panther's long 75mm, or the Tiger's 88mm. Still, a Pershing with a well trained crew could take out a Panther, or a Tiger. I wouldn't say the Pershing was on even footing with the Panther, or Tiger, but it's crews were a damned site better off than the crews of the under gunned, and under armored Sherman tanks. This tank saw service from about January 1945, till the end of the war. This tank also went on to serve in greater numbers in the Korean War, and with some nations friendly to the United States well after that conflict ended in a Cease Fire.. If you're a modeler looking for a nice fast build, pick up this kit, and pick up an M26 Pershing barrel from Barrel Depot to really make your model look great.

Italeri 1:35 Autoblinda AB 41 Model Kit #6442
    Oct 21, 2015
Accurate model that will challenge you.
For years modeling was considered a hobby, but something has changed in recent years. Modelers demanded more realistic and historically accurate models. This model from ITALERI raises the hobby of model building to an art form. This kit of the Autoblinda AB 41 is accurate, and very well produced. This is not a kit for the beginner as there are many small parts, and photo etched parts, but for the intermediate modeler looking to challenge himself, or the advanced modeler, this kit is a perfect choice. This kit is well made, the molds are crisp and clean, and the instructions are easy to follow. If you want to build a model of an off beat, but important World War II vehicle this is your perfect chance. The kit also comes with German, and Italian decals so you can choose which army to represent.
