Buy more than 1 at a time
4 of 6 found this helpful Good little motor for entry level bashing. Came in my kids 2wd slash. Went through 5 motors in 3-4 months. We bash together and as often as possible. Dropped a brush on 2 of them (no response when pulling throttle trigger, only goes when push started) and others developed too much play in shaft that pinion gear attaches to. This caused motor to lock up. Buy more that 1 at a time to save on shipping. These motors will break. Save up and go with Velineon 3500 brushless motor and vxl-3 ESC. No more breakdowns and hauling a**!

Upgrade from 12t 550 to vxl-3 ESC and 3500 velineon in 2wd slash
After breaking 5 12t 550 brushed motors in about 3 months (stock motor in my 3 boys 2wd slash) I decided it would be cheaper in the long run to upgrade to brushles motor. Did it for durability and longevity. Performance was just a bonus.....and what a bonus it is! As these are our RC's I set program to beginner. Boys soon got tired of going slow and we turned cars up. That's when we started dropping brushes and locking motors up. It happens. 3500 in beginner mode is as fast, faster with spur/pinion gear change, than 12t 550 in race mode. Swapping motor and ESC is very straightforward and easy. Be prepared to start breaking stuff when you switch to this awesome package. Wish I'd gone brushles right out of the gate. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.
