Not the latest and greatest but still a top performer

The missing link to what should have come factory - with some reservations
1 of 1 found this helpful First of all, let me share me experience with the Herman Miller Aeron Chair. We own two Carbon size B for our home office since 2000. Yes, for 18 years! Besides having to replace the casters after about 15 years of use and recently the under thigh pad, these chairs hold up very well. You do get what you pay for!
With that out of the way, I have always felt the HM Aeron was missing something for long term in the chair task work. As I got older, upper shoulder stress while sitting in front of the computer for hours started to become more common. I tried stretching, which helps but still felt like something was missing. The human head weighs about 10 to 11 pounds and without support while sitting can cause problems.
Well, HM didn't have a headrest and replacing a perfectly good chair didn't make sense. I found only two companies that made headrests for the HM Aeron chair this one offers forward/back adjustment plus the option to have a thumb screw lock or a no tool spring tension lock for the headrest tilt/height adjustments.
Apparently the headrest now come fully assembled as the online instruction manual (only one) is showing how to assemble the parts then install. Install only took about 5 minutes and another 5 minutes or so to get it adjusted to my personal preferences.
PROS: ability to add a very close material matching headrest, simple to install and adjust. Optional built-in coat hanger. Comfortable and feels secure. Doesn't pull or pinch hair, like some people are reporting on youtube, IMO this may vary from person to person. Close material match for the Carbon colored chair.
CONS: not quite enough forward adjustment for my needs but better than not having a headrest. Cost is kind of high considering the overall price of the chair.
OVERALL: If you are looking for a sturdy and quality headrest that is MADE for your Herman Miller Aeron Chair, this is your solution. Your ergonomic comfort is so important for overall health, so don't skimp.
