Two Old Women
My wife and I attended an Elderhostel in Alaska and spent some time in a few of the Substance Communities. One of the books that were suggested that we read after we got back home was Velma Wallis' Two Old Women, so when I found it on eBay at a very reputable dealer, we bid on it. I was very please with both the dealer, the book's condition and especially the story.
I just finished Wallis' other book, Raising Ourselves; a very good one also! Both are stories of strong Alaskan women. The first one about older women and the newer one about just how strong female children can be during adversity.

G.I. Jane isn't a good title, but...
Someone was needed to represent the women who are being selected by the military who can live up to the demands of what many have seen as 'men only' roles of combat. In G.I. Jane, Demi Moore lives up to that role.
As a Naval Lieutenant, she starts out proving her intellect and then by proving her ability to keep up with those who are trying to compete for a position in a skilled combat unit. It's just a movie, but it's well done and shows some of the rigors that are required to become one of America's finest.
