Too slow for servers. Good for woarkstations.
1 of 2 found this helpful These are good drives for a workstation. I mistakenly bought them for a RAID5 configuration in a server. Go with 7200 RPM for that kind of use.

Very versatile. Powerful switch that doesn't eat your budget.

Great for a test lab environment.
Scalable and powerful for an older model.

ZMM - better than a battery. A small, but important improvement.
I was surprised to see that this unit does not have an actual battery to maintain the cache in the event of power loss. Instead it has a big capacitor which is intended to keep the circuitry powered on long enough to dump the cache to flash RAM. (Zero Maintenance Module - ZMM)
This has the advantage of maintaining the cache data indefinitely instead of just a few days. It also means we don't have to continuously replace the cache batteries.
Having a little trouble getting ARCCONF to work with VMware. When I installed it, I got the PSOD several times before I uninstalled it. I'm sure Adaptec support can help me.
