It displays a man that has so much determination during a period of our history when he was labeled an outcast because of his race. He is given very few breaks, if any, realistically while trying to do something he loved to do and was very good at it. It would have been very interesting to see what Wendell could have done if he would have had the same type of race cars the other front runners had. A true pioneer in the racing industry. There are many people today that should read this book and see what Wendell did with all the cards stacked against him. They could learn a lesson from this man. I believe Wendell was finally inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. I have enjoyed reading this book.
