amazing chapter of Chinese history
When you watch this beautiful yet sad movie you understand why it received 9 Academy awards, including Best Picture in 1987. The cast and photography are top notch and the DVD transfer is excellent. Based on a true story, partially filmed in the Forbidden City, it is an informative introduction to Chinese history and culture.
