CME XKey 37-key Ultra-slim USB Controller MIDI Keyboard New
    Dec 30, 2015
The kind of clicky that feels good
I bought this for the purpose of connecting it to my Korg Kronos and to have a portable keyboard that I can take with me everywhere I go. The portability is a huge plus. The keys and buttons feel like they can take a lot of abuse from bouncing around in your backpack, but be careful with it. Unlike the KMI instruments, if you run this over with a car, it'll probably break. It's very much like an apple product. Please be careful with removing the usb cord. Don't pull on the plug. Be smart and grab the head of the cord and then pull it out when disconnecting your Xkey from any cables. It comes with two cables. One for USB and the other splits into 3 ends, for expression, sustain and 5-pin MIDI. Be aware that if you plan on using the MIDI cable to connect to a master keyboard, you will still need to power the Xkey via USB. Pay close attention to the key velocity. Downloading the software to edit the Xkey was not a hassle for me and making changes was no bother. It does take a while to get used to, so don't give up on the Xkey right away if at first you aren't satisfied with how it plays. Just keep in mind that the action is nothing like a piano. It's more like a computer keyboard. One of my issues with the Xkey is that the spacing surrounding the black keys feels a bit too wide. All in all, the Xkey-37 is a welcome addition to my MIDI Controller family.

These particular rack units usually are slightly too tall for a 1U space. Easy fix! Just have to bend the metal part inward.

Was wondering how this rack kit would fit the 19" mount on either side but come to find out they space between the mounting holes are curved. Works great! Plenty sturdy, too.
