This cd will not dissapoint fans of Afro-Carribean music. Bobby leads one of PR's top 5 Orchestras. He is very gifted arranger, bassist, trumpeter, & composer. What stands out in his big-band sounding orchestra, are his exquisite jazz phrasings especially in his sax, trumpet, trombone sections. You cannot be STILL when his music hits you, he is a MASTER juggler of musical sounds, & rhythms, each competing with each other, creating an impeccable tapestry to delight & enrapture the listener. Bravo!

Great Box Set, high quality, at a reasonable price. Just Get It!

THis is an excellent 5 cd box set that includes 2 live performance cd's and 3 studio cd's of Donny Hathaways great vocal, and pianistic skills. He was also a very talented arranger and composer. Sadly he left us much too soon as he comitted suicide, in his 30's and suffered from mental issues. (Paranoid Schizophrenia) During the 70's his mental issues were not that well treated, and better drugs are now availabler Also the subject of mental illness was shunned or taboo. This artist is one of our great Musical National Treasures.

A Wonderful Realization!

I was shocked by the high quality of the video & sound remastering on this collection. The booklet is a great bonus, with loads of great information regarding the musicians, technical aspects, the planning of this Historic Festival, etc. Im extremely happy with this purchade & highly recommend it to any music lover or Historian.
