KitchenAid doesn't make them like they used to...
2 of 2 found this helpful The listed item says it is located in Dallas, Texas. If so, why was it shipped from Singapore?
The shredder and slicer cones do not fit onto the 3-pronged drive 'wheel' as originally received. I had to pry the edges of the rectangular openings on the cones so they would at least start to engage with the drive 'wheel'. I assume the metal of the cone and/or drive wheel will eventually bend to open up the connection and become more secure and easier to attach and remove. My original, circa 1978, K45 drive 'wheel' has 6 prongs and it has always been easy to attach and remove the cones.
The drive wheel 'disk' is loose at the connection to the shaft. It appears to have a hole in the disk that the shaft is inserted into and then a few small punches on the disk around the edges of the shaft hole are peened over a little bit to keep the disk from falling off the shaft. It might not come off right away, but it is already loose.
The cutters in the cones are not sharpened. They appear to have been punched leaving a flat cutting edge that was not sharpened. The 'Fine' shredding cone has only 3 cutting ripples in each segment. My original, circa 1978, K45 cone has 4 and they are all sharpened; not simply punched and flat as the new one is.

Sturdy but with too many, large, unnecessary cut-outs
A GCE-G box for end-to-end arrangement took a lot of searching to find. This box seems very sturdy with dimensions as advertised. I have had it for only a few weeks and cannot comment on durability.
It is unfortunate that the cut-outs for cable entry are pre-made not 'knock-outs'. I would rather have no cut-outs and make my own than have all these extra, unused open holes where I do not want them. Perhaps they could offer their boxes with holes or without holes as 2 different items. I will attempt to close the unused holes in some way, but, I am not sure what type of glue or adhesive will stick to this material. And, I will attempt to form some sort of gasket around the wires in the excessively large cutout I do use.
