Quilt book CUTTING CURVES FROM STRAIGHT PIECES innovative cutting & stitching
    Nov 08, 2015
    Debbie Bowles at her best
This book is Debbie Bowles at her best! It gives you the basic ideas for her cutting and piecing techniques, excellent instructions, and plenty of pictures for inspiration. It is an older quilting book, but definitely a classic that I will hang on to.
Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline (2013, Paperback)

    compelling story line
I couldn't put this down once I began.... The story does an excellent job telling of the orphan trains both from the perspectives of the orphans' lives back then and their descendants. Many books forget to mention that the future generations were impacted by those adopted and un-adopted orphans. I also liked the book's ties to the present day foster care system. Vivian and Molly's stories weren't so very different, even though they were generations apart. I hope my book club adds this one to our list.

The Quilter's Catalog : A Comprehensive Resource Guide by Meg Cox (2008, Pape...

    rich resource
This book covers quilting right down to the nitty-gritty. It has enough details to give you a good bit more than just the basics, but leaves room for the curious to explore topics further. I highly recommend it!
