Some good ideas using outdated methods
This book is older and does not include the new methods of mat and rotary cutter. It only uses templates and then you have to draw 1/4" around all the templates for them to work properly. However, I will say I made one quilt out of the book -- the only one that requires no templates -- just measuring. (The bar quilt). I was very thankful for this pattern. Also, when I buy a book about Amish quilts, I like for them to look as original as possible -- mostly the colors and patterns. I have lots of books on Amish quilts and this just wasn't one of my favorites. But, I don't want to discourage piecers from buying this book if they are willing to figure out how to do it using a rotary cutter instead of cutting out piece by piece. I'd really like to see her update this book to today's methods.

Does the job of giving a nice stitch if I can get it threaded -- I am going to take the blame for this -- eyes getting old.
It's a good size for hand quilting. There is not much difference in this needle and a size 9. I still have difficulty threading it, but I blame my eyes, not the needle. For some reason I have trouble using the little wire threader because it breaks when I pull it out. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem and if so, how did you solve it?

Title is very misleading, especially using the word "Complete" -- hog wash!
1 of 1 found this helpful It is one of my least favorite quilt books out of 100s. There is not one quilt in the whole book I would be interested in making. Several of them use non-traditional materials (not 100% cotton fabric). I have already put the book away and can't remember, but I think some of them were made of paper or aluminum or some other such materials. I am the kind of quilter who loves, loves, the kind of miniatures you find in the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. None of these are museum quality of any type. Sorry to give such a bad review.
